Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) consolidates aspects of a business within a commonly aligned set of systems — accounting, payroll, human resources (HR), inventory, fleet management and more. Information is entered once and then carried over to all other functions, resulting in less room for error and greatly reduced manual effort. Reporting is more accurate and highly automated, providing greater detail and better access to data for “big-picture” overviews.
The 80th Texas Legislature passed HB 3106 that charged the Comptroller’s office with establishing clear standards for implementing ERP in Texas. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the Department of Information Resources (DIR) and the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) were each appropriated funds to implement an ERP project during the 2010-2011 biennium.
From PeopleSoft to CAPPS
Using Oracle’s PeopleSoft 9.1 suite as a base, the ProjectONE team created the Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS) to serve as the state’s ERP system.
CAPPS Here and Now
No longer just an idea, the Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System, or CAPPS, is the ERP solution for Texas designed and built by ProjectONE and working for agencies now. See Participating CAPPS Agencies for more.
